The Texas Bar College has chosen Jennifer A. Hasley of Hasley Scarano, L.L.P. as the 2022 recipient of the Jim D. Bowmer Professionalism Award.  Ms. Hasley will be recognized at the Texas Bar College's summer event in Galveston on July 21, 2022.  The award has been presented annually since 1994 to attorneys who demonstrate a high level of professionalism, elevate the prestige of the legal profession, promote legal ethics, further continuing education of lawyers, and serve as an inspiration to others. A cash award of $1,000 will be given to the Texas Access to Justice Foundation in Ms. Hasley’s name.  

"I am incredibly honored to receive this very prestigious award,” says Ms. Hasley, whose practice focuses on civil litigation, attorney disciplinary and disability law, and a broad range of professional liability and legal malpractice claims.  Ms. Hasley regularly appears in the Texas Super Lawyer list based on her work in professional liability matters.  She is board certified in civil trial law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and serves on the boards of several legal organizations including the Texas Association of Civil Trial and Appellate Specialists (TACTAS) and the Garland R. Walker American Inn of Court, an organization that promotes civility and professionalism in the practice of law.  She just finished her term as 2021-22 President of the Houston Bar Association.  

The State Bar College is a professional society of legal scholars who are leaders in the Texas legal community and champions of legal education.  Members are qualified attorneys who are interested in both high ethical standards and improved training for all Texas attorneys. The award is named in honor of Jim D. Bowmer of Temple, Texas, the originator of the idea of the State Bar College and a co-founding father of the College.
